A camera-powered musical instrument

Your hands become the interface.

A gesture synth turns physical movement into electronic sound. This one runs entirely in your browser: no MIDI keyboard, plug-ins, installation, account, or previous musical experience required.

Move a hand from left to right to travel through the notes. Raise or lower it to open and soften the tone. Open your hand to play; close it to let the sound fall away. Bring in a second hand for harmony.

02 / FOUR NATURAL MOVEMENTS

Nothing to memorize.

  1. 01Move sideways

  2. 02Move vertically

Private by construction

The camera stops at your screen.

Your video is processed live on your device. Frames, hand positions, and sound are never uploaded, recorded, or stored.

03 / QUESTIONS

Before you raise a hand.

What is a gesture synth?

A gesture synth is an electronic instrument controlled through movement. This browser instrument tracks the position and openness of your hands, then translates them into notes, tone, and expression in real time.

Which browser works best?

Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, or Safari on a camera-equipped phone, tablet, or computer. A well-lit space helps the hand tracker see cleanly.

Why do the notes sound good together?

The instrument uses a D minor pentatonic scale. Its notes combine naturally, leaving you free to explore rhythm and movement instead of worrying about wrong keys.

Is my camera footage private?

Yes. Recognition happens locally in your browser. Gesture Synth has no account system or server that receives your video.
